GSI shutting down

It is with regret that Gravsports Ice will be closing soon. Despite all of us here and many in the community being of the opinion that GSI is a better archiving system for information on ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies, this website will be shutting down.

Keeping the lights on and keeping conditions current no longer seems practical. We have tried making the forums more user friendly, and kept access to a vast array of beta and history contained on the website open to all. However low participation and increasing costs from both the website and hacker intrusions have lead us to this decision. Many thanks to Ian for past hosting costs. While the website will remain live for a short while you can expect it to disappear soon. We have talked of options to preserve the beta it contains however we offer no guarantees at this time.

We thank all our supporters, and everyone in the community for your past participation in GSI.
Regretfully
Will, Ian, and Grant.

We saw others had climbed it 2-3 weeks ago. It was reported to be in good shape and a great climb. I've been going in the Ghost for 15 years and never seen it so well formed. One of our group was eager and even asked if others wanted to lead it after. In the end we only lead it once. While two of us stood off to the left and thought it looked like there were a number of rest stances and agreed it looked good, we found it was actually very brittle, quite pumpy as a result, and didn't yield the cave as easy as we initially thought. Definitely a stout lead and the cold made getting screws in a challenge at times.
The climb gets significant sun exposure and while this past weeks frigid temps have limited sun damage, the next few days of high temps could have an impact on the climb. As per usual I wouldn't expect this unusual climb to stick around long so get it soon.

Regardless this climb is a classic and as grade fours go, Frank surely was a silver tongued devil but thanks for the climb and its cheeky grade
