  • Avalanche Hazard Banff/Yoho/Kootenay Parks

An avalanche was witnessed from a reliable source over the Terminator which engulfed the climb and the approach pitch, etc. Within the last hour another reliable source saw a slide which stopped just above the last pitch of Professors. These would have been initiated by stronger winds.

Another size 3.5(very big) was reported over Oh Le Tabernac/Les Miserables a few days ago. These types of slides are happening sporatically. Just a reminder to think about the over head hazard (way up!), especially with new snow, wind. Inverted temperatures also reported today, although not significant yet (-18 at ridge top, -30 in the valley), it is something to keep in mind.

    Cheers
